Walter Marini Announces Candidacy for Spring Valley Mayor

40 year resident, 12 year Alderman running to serve the community while bringing new level of professionalism and honest communications to the city’s top job

Spring Valley, Illinois...Citing a desire to bring a new level of professionalism and honest communications to City Hall, 12 year Alderman Walt Marini at a gathering of his family and friends announced his intentions to run for Mayor of Spring Valley. A 40 year resident and active participant in the community, Marini thinks the time is right to bring a new direction to the top job in Spring Valley.

“Today, I’m announcing my candidacy for the position of Mayor of Spring Valley,” stated Marini. “I’m running because the citizens of Spring Valley want a public servant and Mayor who will serve them while bringing a new level of professionalism and integrity to our city government.”

To mark the start of his campaign, Walt Marini launched his new site: www.waltmarini.com where voters can find out more about his background, the issues that matter most and how to get involved in his campaign.

“One of the things I’ve heard most often from my neighbors is that they want a responsive local government,” continued Marini. “As Mayor, I intend to make sure that we create and maintain honest, open lines of communication where residents can have their voice heard.”

Having lived in the 3rd Ward for 37 years, he knows well the issues and challenges that Spring Valley faces. Being a part of the Spring Valley community has been a life-long commitment and both Walt and Mary Jane are proud to call Spring Valley their home.

“I’m running for Mayor not to make a name for myself, but to make a name for Spring Valley,” continued Marini. “Mary Jane and I have dedicated many years to helping make our community great and it would be an honor to serve the residents as Mayor.”

Walt Marini has lived in Spring Valley for over 40 years. Married to Mary Jane (Salmon) Marini for 40 years with 2 adult children (Marc and Lisa) and three beautiful grandchildren. Mary Jane is a retired Spring Valley Elementary school teacher and presently serves on the Bureau County Board.

Marini, a LaSalle-Peru High and L-P-O Junior College graduate and is retired from Illinois Power after working at the Hennepin Power Station for 33 years. He’s an active parishioner at St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army for three years earning an Honorable Discharge.
